Arsenal are preparing to sell €40 million (£35m/$46m) transfer flop Fabio Vieira this summer as they initiate talks with Bundesliga side VFB Stuttgart. Veira spent the 2024-25 campaign on loan at his boyhood club FC Porto last season, but Stuttgart are pushing for a permanent transfer for the Gunners outcast, who has struggled for minutes under Mikel Arteta.

According to The Athletic Stuttgart have approached Arsenal with an offer to secure a permanent transfer of Vieira this summer and the Gunners are also willing to offload the out-of-favour attacking midfielder. While the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement, the transfer talks are progressing rapidly.

Arsenal spent €35m plus €5m in add-ons to sign Vieira from in 2022 and in his maiden season at the Emirates, the Portuguese star appeared in 22 matches, out of which he started in only three games. In the following season, he once again struggled for minutes and appeared in the starting lineup in just two top-flight matches.

In August last year, Vieira headed back to his boyhood club Porto, where he played in 42 matches across all competitions as the club finished third in , behind and champions .

Arteta’s side are back from their pre-season tour of Asia and will next feature in a friendly match at home against this Wednesday.
