Lewandowski has decided he will return to the Poland team following the appointment of Jan Urban as head coach, according to a report from Goal.pl. The striker had previously stepped away from international duty after a dispute with Probierz, who controversially removed Lewandowski as captain before Poland’s match against in the recent qualifying game. With Probierz now gone, Lewandowski has made himself fully available to the new coach with no conditions attached, regardless of whether or not he will be reinstated as captain.

Lewandowski’s decision marks the end of a short but highly publicised fallout that had cast uncertainty over his international future. Probierz’s late-night decision to hand the captaincy to Piotr Zielinski led to the 36-year-old striker announcing a self-imposed exile from the national team. That conflict concluded when Probierz resigned, paving the way for Urban to initiate contact. Urban publicly expressed his desire to bring Lewandowski back, and now the striker is said to be returning with immediate effect.

Lewandowski has 158 international caps and 85 goals, which stand as all-time records for the Polish national team.

With Poland set to be seen in action in the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers in September, Lewandowski is expected to be called up for the upcoming squad. The striker remains a key figure for both Barcelona and Poland and is likely to reclaim his spot in the starting XI under the new manager. Whether he wears the captain’s armband again remains to be seen, but the coaching staff and Lewandowski are reportedly ready to put the issue to rest.
