- Vazquez set to leave Madrid
- Rejected a move to former club Espanyol
- Considering offers from Qatar and Fenerbahce
Vazquez will not renew his contract at Madrid and is now exploring new options for the 2025-26 season. While La Liga side Espanyol showed interest in bringing him back, Vazquez has rejected their proposal. According to Estadio Deportivo he’s evaluating a high-paying offer from Qatar while also being strongly linked with Fenerbahce, where he could reunite with Jose Mourinho.
With his contract set to expire on July 13 and no renewal on the table, the 34-year-old is available on a free transfer. His next move will likely come down to choosing between financial gain in Qatar or a competitive European project in Turkey under a familiar coach. Either way, he won’t be continuing in Spain‘s top flight despite reported interest.
Vazquez featured in 53 matches for Los Blancos last season, scoring two goals and providing eight assists, notably stepping up during Dani Carvajal’s injury absence. With a current market value of €3 million, he remains a versatile option, capable of playing both as a right-back and a winger.
Vazquez’s final decision is expected in the coming weeks. With Espanyol out of the picture, Fenerbahce and Qatari clubs are the only serious contenders. A move to Turkey would see him link up with Mourinho again, while Qatar promises a lucrative payday for the veteran Spaniard.
