- Midfielder struggled with injury in Turkey
- Ox linked with newly-promoted Leeds
- 31-year-old won league with Liverpool in 2019
As per Yeni Safak, Besiktas have terminated Oxlade-Chamberlain’s deal, as he was informed he would not be part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans going forward. The midfielder struggled with injury during his first season in Turkey, and was frozen out by then manager Giovanni van Bronkhorst at the start of the 2024/25 campaign. The 31-year-old eventually worked his way back into the side after the Dutchman’s sacking, and in all, made 50 appearance and scored five goals for Besiktas after joining from Liverpool on a free transfer in 2023.
Newly-promoted Leeds are believed to be interested in Oxlade-Chamberlain, who would be in favour of a return to England. Earlier this summer, the player had been linked with a move to Leicester City, amid reports that he and his fiance Perrie Edwards were struggling with a long-distance relationship.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has enjoyed a long and successful career, winning three FA Cups with Arsenal, and adding a Premier League, League Cup, and Champions League to his personal trophy haul during a five-year spell at Liverpool.
The termination of his contract would probably point to Oxlade-Chamberlain asking for the chance to return to England. A versatile player that can operate in midfield, or out wide, he would be a valuable veteran squad player for a team attempting to stay, or break back into, the Premier League.
