- Nwaneri pens new contract
- Signs long-term deal
- Reportedly expires in 2030
أرسنال have confirmed Nwaneri has signed a new contract at the Emirates after breaking into Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad. Reports had claimed that the Gunners were concerned about the teenager’s future, but he has now put to bed any speculation by penning fresh terms with the north London giants. BBC Sport’s Alex Howell states the deal will run until 2030.
Nwaneri is only 18 and already has 39 first-team appearances under his belt. The winger has scored nine goals and registered two assists for Arteta’s side and is the youngest player ever to both play for the Gunners and appear in the الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز, doing so at the age of just 15.
Nwaneri told Arsenal’s website: “It means everything to me, I’m so happy to have got it done. This is where I feel at home, and where I’m going to develop the best. I’m ready.
“I’m very excited. I see this as my first real season, and part of a proper squad in the changing room. I’m so excited for what I can bring to the team and how I can help the team.
“I’m a very versatile player, so I think I’m going to play anywhere across the front five, and I’m ready to do what the manager needs.”
Nwaneri is only the third player to score three Premier League goals before his 18th birthday, joining Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney in a very exclusive club.
Arsenal kick off their Premier League season next weekend against Manchester متحد. Nwaneri will hope to enjoy a strong showing.
