Parkinson has confirmed that striker Ollie Palmer and wing-back Jacob Mendy have been told to find new teams to join for the upcoming season. The Wrexham boss, who described Palmer as a “great servant” to the Welsh outfit, also suggested there could be more exits before the transfer window shuts, without naming names.
He said, via BBC Sport: “Kieffer Moore comes in, I’ve had a good chat with Ollie Palmer this week. He needs to go and play this season, he knows that. He’s been a great servant to the club, a real key player in the climb up the divisions but he’s ready to go and play, so there’s an example. We spoke about Jacob Mendy a couple of weeks ago and there’s other players in that category. But equally there’s also a group who want to prove themselves and they’re going to get the opportunity to do that. There’s a lot of players who have enjoyed being a part of this club and rightly so. But they know for their own careers they need to play. If we feel that the time is right for that to happen, then we’ll help it happen and get them a club where we feel it’s going to be beneficial for them.”
Palmer and Mendy have enjoyedthree promotions with Wrexhamsince signing for the club in 2022, albeit last season they had a diminished role. Both have played a huge part in helping the Red Dragons rise up from the وطني League but football is a cutthroat sport, and it seems their time with Wrexham is about to end.
It remains to be seen where Palmer, who has scored 44 goals in 149 games for Wrexham, and Mendy, who has made 77 appearances for the Welsh team, will move to as Parkinson’s team prepare to face Southampton in their بطولة opener on Saturday.
