وفق La Gazzetta dello Sport the Rossoneri have entered negotiations with United to bring Hojlund to San Siro on loan for the 2025-26 season. The Red Devils are open to letting the Danish striker leave after just two years in إنجلترا, where he has struggled for form. The arrivals of Matheus Cunha and potentially Benjamin Sesko have further reduced his chances of regular playing time. Milan are willing to cover his full salary of around €4 million per year but are seeking to limit the loan fee.
The 22-year-old joined United from أتالانتا in 2023 for €70m (£60m/$77m) plus bonuses, arriving with high expectations after a breakout season in الدوري الإيطالي. However, inconsistent performances, injuries and tactical changes have hampered his progress. Milan see him as a strong fit for their attack and a lower-cost alternative to other targets like Dusan Vlahovic, whose signing would be more expensive and riskier financially.
Discussions are centred around the loan fee, with United initially asking for a higher sum than Milan are willing to pay. The Italian club want the figure to stay below €6m to avoid committing themselves to a compulsory purchase, which could bring the total cost closer to €35m (£30m/$38m), reports Gazzetta. While Hojlund is Milan’s top target, other options such as Nicolas Jackson and Goncalo Ramos are being monitored in case talks stall.
Hojlund scored 16 goals in all competitions for Atalanta in the 2022-23 season, his only full campaign in Serie A before making his big move to the الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.
