Barcelona are urgently seeking an alternative venue for their first scheduled home game of the season against Valencia after their planned return to the Camp Nou was ruled out, موندو ديبورتيفو reports. The Spanish champions were set to host the match on September 14, but delays in construction certification have made the stadium unavailable. To compound the issue, their temporary home at Montjuïc’s Estadi Olímpic is also out of action due to a Post Malone concert being held on September 12.

Barca played the entirety of the 2024-25 season at Montjuic while Camp Nou underwent extensive redevelopment. The fixture list for the new season was specifically designed with three consecutive away matches to allow for the finishing touches to be applied for the planned homecoming against Valencia. Now, with a city official suggesting a return to the Camp Nou this autumn is “very unlikely,”the club face a logistical crisis for the Valencia fixture and a potential extended stay at their temporary ground.

Barcelona have already begun the 2025-26 La Liga season with three straight away fixtures. If the club succeeds in requesting a fixture reversal with Valencia, it would mean playing a highly unusual four consecutive league matches on the road to start their title defence.

With playing behind closed doors ruled out, Barcelona are assessing three potential solutions. The first is to play the ‘home’ fixture at the stadium of nearby , Montilivi, though no formal approach has yet been made. A second, more difficult option involves compensating organisers to move the Post Malone concert, which is unlikely due to high ticket sales. The third option is to request an exceptional fixture reversal from La Liga, which would see them travel to Mestalla and play a fourth successive away match, though this could face opposition from other clubs.
