- Enrique offered Spurs job in 2023
- Joined PSG eventually
- Faces توتنهام in كأس السوبر
لويس إنريكي was without a job since December 2022 after the Spanish وطني team were knocked out of that year’s كأس العالم by Morocco in the round of 16. Six months later, he accepted the head coach role at PSG, where he finally found success in his second season, as he bagged the treble for the second time in his coaching career, including the club’s maiden دوري أبطال أوروبا title.
At the time Enrique opted to join the French giants, Tottenham were looking for a permanent replacement for Antonio Conte and they eventually appointed former سلتيك boss Ange Postecoglou as their new manager. The Australian won the Europa League in his second season but was sacked regardless and replaced by Thomas Frank.
Ahead of PSG’s UEFA Super Cup clash against Spurs on Wednesday, Enrique claimed that he was approached by the الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز side. Speaking to reporters, Enrique said: “There were some options in the last six months before I came to Paris and Tottenham was one of them.”
After formally kick-starting the new season in the UEFA Super Cup in the midweek, the reigning French champions will play their first الدوري الفرنسي 1 game on August 17 as they face Nantes.
