- McGlynn’s celebration came after netting goal against former club
- Midfielder previously expressed frustration about exit from Union
- Dynamo sit 11th in the Western Conference after 24 games
U.S. international Jack McGlynn scored a penalty equalizer for the Houston Dynamo against his former club, the Philadelphia Union, then ran to the sideline and dramatically kissed the Dynamo badge. The provocative celebration was a clear nod to his contentious exit from Philadelphia earlier this season, when the homegrown midfielder was traded to Houston after contract talks collapsed.

The midfielder’s celebration represents a rare public display of animosity from a player toward his former club, particularly unusual given McGlynn’s development through Philadelphia’s academy system. However, McGlynn admitted in an interview that he was unhappy with how things ended with the Union and believed he was disrespected.
“The communication with me? The respect they showed me? It felt like there was none at all,” McGlynn told بالجم. “It was just disrespectful the way they handled it. And I’m happy that it worked out because I’m playing well in Houston. But I really just wish I could have left on better terms.”
Following their 1-1 draw to the Philadelphia Union, the Houston Dynamo will host the LA Galaxy on July 25 at the Shell Energy Stadium before facing Tigres UANL in the Leagues Cup on July 29.
