- Arsenal eyeing Gyokeres deal
- Hodgson lauds striker
- Insists he would make a big impact
The Gunners are attempting to sign Gyokeres from Sporting in a long-running saga. They have agreed a fee of €70 million (£61m/$82m) for the Sweden international, but now reports suggest that negotiations have hit another snag, over the level of add-ons included in the deal.
Hodgson, who worked in Sweden at the beginning of a distinguished career, believes Gyokeres has everything required to make a major impact at the Emirates if he does end up in north London, and could give the national team a headache given the rival presence of Alexander Isak in the squad.
Hodgson told Hajper: “Viktor Gyokeres is at a big club already, he’s getting the level of football that the Swedish national team would want but If he does come to England, I’m pretty sure that will be welcomed, if you like, by the whole الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز in terms of the level of play he will bring.
“If Arsenal do sign him, it will be a real feather in their cap. With regard to the national team, that might give the national team coach a decision to make because I think that both Alexander Isak and Gyokeres are used to playing as a lone centre forward, backed up either from behind or from the wings.”
Arsenal will try to wrap up their signing of Gyokeres ahead of the 2025/26 season.
