- Chelsea to make opening bid for Xavi Simons soon
- Leipzig demand €70m including add-ons for star man
- Simons excited by Chelsea project under Enzo Maresca
Chelsea have identified Simons as a top attacking target and are preparing their first official offer to RB Leipzig, as per Sky Germany. According to the report, both Simons and his representatives are open to the move. Additionally, the الدوري الألماني side are believed to want around €70m (£60m), including add-ons, to sanction the sale.
Simons is reportedly excited by Chelsea’s long-term vision under Maresca, and talks over personal terms have been progressing smoothly over the last few weeks. The Club كأس العالم champions are said to be confident of completing the transfer before the window closes. Leipzig, who paid €50m just months ago, appear willing to negotiate if Chelsea meet their valuation.
Simons was a standout performer for Leipzig last season, notching 11 goals and eight assists in 33 appearances. Although he only joined permanently in January, the Bundesliga club are now ready to cash in. Chelsea, under manager Enzo Maresca, are hoping to add the versatile attacker to their young, dynamic squad on the back of transfers for the likes of Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and others.
Chelsea are expected to submit their opening offer in the coming days. If Leipzig are satisfied with the structure, a deal could move quickly. The Blues hope to have Simons signed and integrated ahead of the 2025-26 season.
