- Liverpool in talks with youngster
- Teenage forward made his debut at 16
- Already has two league appearances
Per Ben Jacobs of talkSPORT Liverpool are in advanced talks to land Wright from Salford. The 17-year-old has also attracted interest from مانشستر سيتي, and scored over 40 goals at academy level last season. He also played against City in the FA Cup.
The Reds are understood to be attempting to negotiate a six-figure fee for Wright, and are the only club in advanced negotiations to sign the forward, despite rival interest. Salford, of course, are now owned by a consortium led by مانشستر يونايتد legends Beckham and Neville; they may be loathe to sell to the Reds, but it remains to be seen if they would willingly block his path.
Wright has already made three senior appearances for Salford, playing 67 minutes in League Two. He has not scored a senior goal yet, but his prolific youth exploits are drawing admiring glances.
Salford are preparing for the upcoming League Two season and play Chester in a pre-season friendly on July 19. Arne Slot’s Liverpool, meanwhile, are set to face AC Milan in their next pre-season game in Hong Kong as they embark on a tour of Asia.
