- Gakpo reveals Bayern interest
- Dutch winger has signed ليفربول extension
- Says transfer window clarity gives him & family "peace"
Bayern’s main priority throughout the summer was to strengthen their attack. Gakpo has now revealed that Bayern made an approach for him before eventually signing لويس Diaz. The Dutchman extended his contract at Anfield beyond its original 2028 expiry date last week.
التحدث إلى إي إس بي إن Gakpo revealed: “From what I understand, they [Bayern] did come [to open talks about a transfer], but they ended up buying Luis Diaz. It’s difficult because so much is happening. Other clubs are approaching you, but you might want to stay with your own club. Everyone handles that in their own way, but it’s definitely difficult. When the future is uncertain, it just becomes a very difficult story.”
The Liverpool star added on his relief at having his future secured: “It’s لطيف - جيد. I’ve experienced things differently myself, of course. A transfer window like that can be hectic and stressful for a player and everyone around them. I don’t have that problem anymore.”
Gakpo’s decision to extend his contract gives Liverpool stability as they build under Arne Slot. The Dutch forward revealed the process of renewal had been in the works for almost a year, bringing peace of mind for him and his family. Beyond football, he says, feeling at home in إنجلترا was a big factor in his commitment.
Gakpo will now focus on continuing his progress at Liverpool under Slot. With Diaz gone, he may also be expected to take on greater responsibility in attack alongside new arrivals Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak. Liverpool fans will hope his long-term commitment translates into consistent performances this season and beyond.
