Per VG, sent scouts to watch Helland play against Viking on Sunday, as Brann won 3-1. The 20-year-old, who has won six caps for ‘s Under-21s, already has 37 senior appearances for the club; he can play at both centre-back and right-back.

Helland’s agent is also reported to have been present at the game, so it is possible that he spoke with United’s representative. Helland insists he does not know anything about the Red Devils’ interest in him, however, but claims it is normal for players to be linked away.

Helland told VG: “I haven’t thought much about it [] That’s just the way it is. That’s how the football world is.”

Asked if he had any thoughts about leaving, he replied: “I’m very calm about it. I feel very comfortable here, and my plan is to stay here. No, I’m going to play really well with Brann.”

United are clearly casting their net far and wide as they seek new signings for Ruben Amorim. The manager has thus far seen Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon arrive this summer.
