The Gunners are still keen to continue reinforcing their attack this summer, with Eze a top target. However, Palace are playing hardball having barely moved themselves in the transfer market and are asking Arsenal to pay over half of the player’s £67.5million release clause upfront.

Arsenal have attempted to counter Palace’s requirements by offering to pay more than the release clause, but in instalments, a method that has so far been unsuccessful. Head coach Oliver Glasner recently complained in the media that his team have already lost too many players and he hopes that no more head out the door by the time the new season starts.

Arsenal have already forked out nearly £200m on players this summer and are now hoping to offload some unwanted faces to help raise funds to secure the international. Leandro Trossard, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jesus have all been touted for moves away from north London this summer.

For now, it seems Arsenal will have to sit tight while negotiations for Eze continue. The Gunners face rivals in Hong Kong on Thursday.
