- Palace pulled plug on Guehi move
- ليفربول had agreed £35m deal
- Fears Glasner was ready to quit
Palace boss Glasner held heated talks with owner Steve Parish in which he insisted Guehi, 25, must not leave Selhurst Park while the club struggled to find an ideal replacement, according to The Guardian. The report claims that the Eagles hierarchy were even fearful the Austrian could walk away if the إنجلترا international completed a last-gasp move to Liverpool.
Guehi looked all set to move to Liverpool after the الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز champions agreed a £35 million fee for the Palace captain. Arne Slot’s side had successfully submitted a deal sheet before the transfer window closed for Premier League clubs at 19:00 BST on Monday, giving them a two-hour extension.
Guehi, who played a key role in helping Palace win their first major trophy with victory in the FA Cup final last season, could now leave the south London club on a free transfer next summer. The former تشيلسي centre-back has just one year remaining on his current Palace contract and it remains to be seen whether he will sign fresh terms with Glasner’s side.
Guehi could feature for England in their كأس العالم qualifying double header against Andorra and Serbia this month. He will then return to Premier League action when Palace host newly-promoted سندرلاند on September 13, while Liverpool travel to بيرنلي on September 14.
