- Cerezo challenges Atletico to win the treble
- Believes squad is complete with six new signings
- Madrid last won a trophy in 2021
Simeone and Atletico’s last trophy success came in 2021 when they won a second La Liga title under the Argentine, which came three years after their second Europa League success in his 14 years in charge. They finished 12 points behind league champions Barcelona last season and lost to the Catalan side in the Copa del Rey semi-finals. They were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid at the round of 16 stage.
Madrid have had a busy transfer window as they look to build a team worthy of competing for silverware again. Despite missing out on top target Cristian Romero from Tottenham, they have completed six new signings, notably United States midfielder Johny Cardoso from Real Betis and Marc Pubill from Almeira. Recently, Atletico were given a boost when David Hancko’s move from Feyenoord to Al-Nassr failed as he has been a long time target to the club.
The president laid out the challenge Simeone faces, telling reporters: “The challenge is to win everything, the challenge is not to finish third. The challenge is to go out and win all three competitions, to win everything.”
Cerezo spoke about the market, saying:u0026nbsp;”We’ve brought in the players we needed. I think everything’s done. If there’s a chance, maybe we could bring in another player.u0026nbsp;But I don’t think anyone else will come.”

Cerezo will hope that his team has strengthened enough to challenge giants like Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona for all three trophies next season.
