- Coach compares striker to Haaland and Kane
After a shaky start to the game and missing two early key chances, Guirassy slowly found his grip and was the standout player for Dortmund as they beat Union Berlin 3-0 on Sunday. The Guinean striker scored twice – once before the half-time and again finding the net in the 58th minute to seal three points in their second game of the season. Dortmund coach Kovac was elated by the forward’s performance calling him a very important player and backing the striker to be on par with بايرن ميونيخ star Kane and مانشستر سيتي hero Haaland.
Dortmund have now registered their first win of the season after previously drawing against St. Pauli during, which was overshadowed by a heated conversation between Jobe Bellingham’s parents and Dortmund’s sporting director. Guirassy’s goals extended his الدوري الألماني streak to seven consecutive matches and also makes him the most prolific Bundesliga forward with 18 goals in this calendar year compared to Kane’s 15. Coach Kovac expressed his happiness as he labelled the 29-year-old as his and the team’s “life insurance”.
In a post-match interview, Dortmund head coach praised Guirassy, saying: “I’ve used the term ‘life insurance’ several times myself. Serhou is a very important player for us. Someone who scores goals – even in impossible situations. He was under pressure for the first goal, was saved, and yet he still scored. Top striker!”
Kovac added: “Bayern has Kane, City has Haaland and we have Guirassy.”
Guirassy will team up with Guinea for their upcoming كأس العالم qualiying match against Somalia this week. After the international break, Dortmund will face Heidenheim in the league on September 13.
