- Aubameyang has rejoined Marseille
- Will pair up with Greenwood in attack
- Gabonese can’t wait to hit the ground running
Aubameyang’s latest move brings him back to familiar territory in France and marks his fifth transfer since his departure from Arsenal in February 2022. Following a fallout with manager Mikel Arteta, he left the north London club and went on to play for Barcelona, Chelsea, Marseille and Al-Qadsiah in quick succession.
Aubameyang’s return is not just about unfinished business; it’s also about forming new partnerships. He is particularly excited to play alongside Greenwood, especially after the English forward enjoyed a sensational 2024–25 season, finishing as الدوري الفرنسي 1‘s joint top scorer with 21 goals and sharing the honour with Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembele.
Speaking about Greenwood, Aubameyang was full of praise: “He’s the star boy! He’s very strong, very good. I really liked his season and now he’s working even harder than last season. In Saudi Arabia, I had a teammate who had played with him in Spain and he told me he was a phenomenon. I’m happy he’s with us.”
Aubameyang is expected to make his debut in Marseille’s upcoming pre-season clash against Sevilla on August 2. The friendly presents the perfect stage for Aubameyang to begin forging on-field chemistry with Greenwood and inspire the team to greater heights in Ligue 1 and the Champions League.
