- Mbappe handed No.10 shirt
- France international takes Modric’s number
- Follows in esteemed footsteps
Mbappe has officially succeeded Modric as Los Blancos’ No.10, following in the footsteps of some iconic Real figures. The likes of Mesut Ozil, Luis Figo, Clarence Seedorf, and Ferenc Puskas have all worn the shirt previously and the World Cup winner will now bear the weight of the number.

Mbappe has previously worn the No.10 at Monaco, but he never took it at PSG, instead wearing the No.7, the No.14, the No.17 and the No.29 at varying points. He has scored 44 goals in 59 games for Madrid, and will now aim to take the next step in his evolution at the Bernabeu.
Mbappe enjoyed a remarkable end to last season, scoring nine goals in five games, but it was not enough to spearhead a title charge, as the club ultimately finished four points behind Barcelona.
Real face Osasuna in their first game of the season on August 19, as Mbappe aims to show he is worthy of the No.10 shirt.
