Rashford made his La Liga debut with برشلونة in their opening fixture of the season against مايوركا. The English winger was substituted in for Ferran Torres in the second half of the game. However, Flick was not impressed by the team’s intensity and has new plans up his sleeve for their upcoming face-off against ليفانتي. Despite the coach’s criticism, the Blaugrana won the day, scoring three goals and keeping a clean sheet.
Flick was happy to take three points home but felt that the team only played at “50 per cent” intensity even after having the advantage of playing against nine men. The German coach claimed in the post-match conference that he was going to “work on some situations” for the upcoming games. With Flick’s recent appreciation for Rashford, who joined on loan after falling out of favour at مانشستر يونايتد, the 27-year-old can expect to start in the upcoming game.
Talking to the media about Rashford in the press-conference, the Barca coach said: “He gives us more options and he’s better as a winger, but his strengths lie in his first touch. I think we can have a fantastic Rashford this season.”
Joan Garcia also made his much-awaited debut for the Blaugrana in their fixture against Mallorca. However, Flick said fellow new signing Roony Bardghji’s registration is still pending and he hopes to be able to select him next week if all goes according to plan.
“He’s not registered for the match. The player’s attitude and mentality are fantastic. What I tell the young players is to train well and they’ll play. [On Saturday] we’ll choose one or two, and we hope that next week something will change and they’ll all be registered,” he said.
