Greenwood made just the one appearance for before he was exiled by in 2023 and has since been working on a switch of allegiance that would allow him to make his return on the international stage.

Greenwood being granted citizenship by means he is in line to be selected for his country for the first time in five years. Per BBC Sport the Marseille man has also been issued a new passport to fully complete his switch.

Greenwood’s recruitment is part of a drive from Jamaica and head coach Steve McClaren to bring in UK-born players with heritage linked to the Caribbean country. Since charges of attempted rape against him were dropped, the 23-year-old has been firing under Roberto De Zerbi at Marseille and has also been linked with a switch to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.

The ex-Manchester man is still awaiting clearance from the Jamaica Football Federation before he can be called up for the qualifiers against Bermuda and Trinidad u0026amp; Tobago in September.
