According to Foot Mercato the 34-year-old will not be retained for the upcoming season, and his representatives have already begun offering his services to potential suitors in Europe and within Saudi Arabia. Kante has been proposed to الدوري الفرنسي 1 الأندية موناكو و نادي باريس لكرة القدم, as well as fellow Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah.
Kante moved to Al-Ittihad two seasons ago after a decorated spell at Chelsea, becoming one of the league’s highest-profile signings. Despite previous injury concerns, he has been a mainstay for the club under manager Laurent Blanc, making 80 appearances in all competitions. His consistent performances also ensured he remained a key part of Didier Deschamps’ France squad. However, with Al-Ittihad looking to be active in the transfer market, the decision has been made to allow the World Cup winner to move on.
During his two seasons in the Saudi Pro League, Kante proved to be an effective contributor from midfield. Across his 80 appearances for Al-Ittihad, he was directly involved in 18 goals, scoring eight and providing 10 assists.
