'Proud' – Cristiano Ronaldo sends message as former team-mate is named Al-Nassr's new CEO

Cristiano Ronaldo sent out a message for former Sporting CP team-mate Jose Semedo as the ex-Portuguese footballer took charge of Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr as their acting CEO. Ronaldo and Semedo were team-mates briefly at Sporting CP B in 2003 before the Selecao captain left the club to join Premier League giants Manchester United ahead of the 2003-04 campaign.

With the arrival of Semedo and Jorge Jesus as the club’s new head coach, Ronaldo is now aiming to win the elusive league title, which he has been chasing since signing for the club in January 2023. As Semedo took charge, the Al-Nassr skipper took to social media to congratulate him and sent out a heartfelt message.

On his Instagram story, Ronaldo wrote: “Proud of you! Let’s go all in! @josesemedoofficial”

Even at 40, Ronaldo is creating new records, and he recently swept major honours at the ‘s end-of-season awards ceremony following a record-breaking campaign with Al-Nassr. He collected 15 man-of-the-match accolades from his 30 league appearances, more than any other player in the division. This helped him win the Player of the Season award. He also finished as the league’s top scorer, netting 25 goals across the 2024-25 Saudi Pro League season.

Reports have emerged that Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr could face side Sheffield in a pre-season friendly this summer.
