And the drama isn’t over. With matches still to be played, clubs such as FC Juárez and Necaxa remain in contention, while Tigres and Pachuca – currently in qualifying positions – are not guaranteed to advance.
The last of the “big four” still alive is Pumas, who face Inter Miami in a must-win game that could salvage some pride for the most popular teams in Mexican football.
As the Leagues Cup winds down for many, attention turns back to the Apertura 2025, which resumes this weekend.
América will host Querétaro on Saturday and Chivas travel to face Santos Laguna on Sunday. On Monday, Monterrey visit León in a star-studded clash between Sergio Ramos and James Rodríguez, while Cruz Azul will be on the road against Atlético San لويس.
