- Man City confirm Begiristain exit
- Director of football had 13 years at club
- Viana replaces him at the Etihad
After announcing he would be leaving City in October 2024, with نادي سبورتينغ لشبونة‘s Hugo Viana to succeed him, Begiristain is moving on from the الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز side. He joined the club in 2012 but now moves on as the Citizens embark upon a new era.
During Begiristain’s 13 years at City, they have won 21 major trophies, including seven Premier League titles, two FA Cups, one دوري أبطال أوروبا, one Club كأس العالم, and one كأس السوبر الأوروبي. Viana has now replaced the former Spanish footballer, who played a big role in bringing Pep Guardiola to the club.

City have announced that Begiristain will be a special guest for their home fixture at the Etihad for the Manchester ديربي against Manchester متحد in the Premier League on September 14. City added that he is ‘one of the greatest directors of football the game has ever seen’.
Incidentally, City Studios have also revealed that they will be releasing a feature-length film – A Farewell to Txiki – in September. It will profile his time as a player and then, more recently, at Guardiola’s City.
