The U.S. Women’s وطني team’s triumphant gold medal run at the 2024 Olympics marked a pinnacle of excellence, in more ways than one.
On Aug. 10 last year, Emma Hayes’ side defeated Brazil 1-0 in the final of the Paris Games, marking the sixth gold medal game appearance for the USWNT – out of eight Olympics in which women’s soccer was contested – and fifth win. The history is undeniable: The USWNT have the most Olympic gold and most total medals in the history of the Games, having won five golds, one silver and one bronze.
So nearly a year later, where are they now? So much can happen in a year, and one thing is certain, this USWNT is on an ever-evolving journey. From marriages to pregnancies to record-breaking moves to Europe to retirements and more, it’s been a dynamic 12 months for that gold medal-winning USWNT.

INDIVISA look at the roster from the Paris Games, and the current status of the Olympic winners.
After leading the USWNT to gold, goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher retired from the USWNT at the end of 2024. She is the first goalkeeper to earn a shutout in a women’s World Cup Final and an Olympic Gold Medal game. Despite retiring from international duties, Naeher still plays professionally for the Chicago Stars in the الدوري الوطني لكرة القدم للسيدات. She was recently moved from the 45-day injury list, and will be available to play for the Stars this weekend.u0026nbsp;
Casey Murphy is the starting goalkeeper for the North Carolina Courage in the NWSL. In the 2025 NWSL season, she has started every match for the Courage – recording 13 starts with 36 saves and three clean sheets.
Internationally, Murphy u0026nbsp;earned nearly 20 caps for Team USA since her debut in November 2021, accumulating 15 clean sheets and helping the team qualify for both the 2023 World Cup and the 2024 Olympics. Since the Paris Games, Murphy has not been called into any USWNT camps.
Since winning Olympic gold, goalkeeper Jane Campbell has remained one of the most consistent players for the Houston Dash in the NWSL, signing a long-term contract through 2027-28.u0026nbsp;
Internationally, Campbell was featured in the 2025 SheBelieves Cup and April friendlies, and is in contention to become the next U.S. starting goalkeeper, Hayes is actively rotating goalkeepers in 2025 to build depth, with Campbell facing competition.
Centerback Tierna Davidson joined Gotham FC in January of 2024 and captained the side in 2025. She recently signed an extension through 2027, but has been sidelined due to a season-ending ACL tear in March. With her injury, Davidson was replaced by defender Gisele Thompson for the USWNT’s April friendlies. Since the Olympics, Davidson was announced as USWNT’s Player’s Association president and also got married to her longtime partner towards near the end of 2024.
Since the 2024 Paris Olympics, outside back Emily Fox has continued to thrive, and is a key player for أرسنال in the English دوري كرة القدم للسيدات after transferring from North Carolina Courage in early 2024. She quickly established herself as a regular starter, helping Arsenal win the FA Women’s League Cup and the 2024-25 UEFA Women’s Champions League, while also earning individual honors such as Player of the Month and Goal of the Month.
Internationally, Fox remains a regular selection for the the USWNT, appearing in camps for the SheBelieves Cup and a number of the spring friendlies. Despite occasional rest periods due to her club schedule, she continues to be a reliable veteran presence for the Hayes’ side.
Since her standout performances at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she was integral to the backline that conceded just two goals en route to gold, Girma has continued her rise both at club and international level. In January, she made historyu0026nbsp;by transferring from San Diego Wave to Chelsea FC for a record fee of $1.1 million, becoming the first female player sold for more than $1M.
Despite a calf injury that sidelined her in early 2025 and caused her to miss the USWNT’s January camp and the SheBelieves Cup, she recovered and played a key role in Chelsea’s WSL and FA Cups. Since her return to the USWNT camps, Hayes has praised her as a “security blanket” for the U.S. backline and welcomed her leadership as the team builds toward the 2027 World Cup.
Since Paris, defender Casey Krueger has remained Washington Spirit’s defensive anchor, though her tenure with the USWNT has likely come to an end as the program builds for the future. She acknowledged that her national team career likely over. Her role in the NWSL, however, is far from over, as Krueger signed a three-year deal with the Spirit in January, 2024.u0026nbsp;
Since the 2024 Paris Olympics, Jenna Nighswonger – who appeared in four matches en route to Olympic gold – has taken a significant step in her career by transferring from NJ/NY Gotham FC to Arsenal in late January 2025, reportedly for a fee of $100,000.
Nighswonger has made few appearances for the USWNT after the Olympics, with her most notable impact as a substitute in the SheBelieves Cup match vs. Colombia. The outside back wasn’t included in April’s Brazil friendlies, as Hayes prioritized roster spots for NWSL-based players and allowed European players to rest.
Since the Olympics, Sonnett earned her 100th cap – in October 2024 – and has remained in Hayes’ regular rotation. She was included on the U.S. roster for the 2025 SheBelieves Cup – her 10th appearance in the tournament – and was honored with a cap ceremony before the opening match.
She also featured in friendlies late spring, starting against China and Jamaica – giving experienced depth to the backline. In the NWSL, Sonnettu0026nbsp;signed a three‑year deal with Gotham FC in January 2024. She’s played every minute for Gotham in the 2025 NWSL season, leading the league in successful passes and ranking second in total touches.
Since the Olympics, Korbin Albert as featured prominently for Paris Saint-Germain through the 2024-25 season, making 43 league appearances and scoring five goals. In July 2025, she made a high‑profile move within فرنسا, signing a three‑year contract withu0026nbsp;OL Lyonnes, joining fellow USWNT midfielder Lindsey Heaps.
Albert earned 26 caps with the USWNT, and continues to be part of Hayes’ future plans by her inclusion in the April friendlies against Brazil – and also was recently named to the USWNT’s Under-23 squad.
Sam Coffeyu0026nbsp;has solidified her role as a key midfielder for both the USWNT and the Portland Thorns. She played a pivotal part in the USWNT’s gold medal victory, starting in five of six matches during the inaugural CONCACAF W Gold Cup in early 2024.
In March 2025, Coffey was named to the USWNT roster for the SheBelieves Cup, where she contributed to the team’s success. Not long after, Coffey earned her 34th cap with the national team and was honored by Hayes with the captain’s armband during a friendly against Ireland, underscoring her leadership and growth .u0026nbsp;
At the club level, Coffey continues to be a cornerstone for the Thorns. In June 2025, the club announced that she had signed a contract extension through the 2027 season.
In December 2024, Lindsey married Tyler Heaps, the sporting director and GM of MLS’s San Diego FC. Heaps has been very busy on the field as well, being a key player for Olympique Lyonnais in France’s Première Ligue, where she led the league in assists.
In March, Heaps was included in the USWNT roster for the SheBelieves Cup. Not long after she earned her 34th cap with the national team and was honored by Hayes with the captain’s armband during a friendly against Ireland. Looking ahead, Heapsu0026nbsp;has expressed interest in playing for the upcoming NWSL expansion team in Denver, her hometown. She sees it as an opportunity to reunite with her family and bring her career full circle.u0026nbsp;
Since the 2024 Paris Olympics, Rose Lavelle has made a strong return to both club and country after recovering from ankle surgery. u0026nbsp;She underwent the ankle procedure in December 2024 and spent six months rehabilitating. Lavelle returned to action for Gotham FC on June 7 against Kansas City. Shortly thereafter, she rejoined the USWNT for a friendly against Ireland in June, a match in which she marked her comeback with a goal and an assist in a 4-0 victory.
Since winning Olympic gold in Paris, Croix Bethune has emerged as one of the most electrifying young midfielders in women’s soccer. Despite sustaining a torn meniscus that ended her inaugural season early, she earned NWSL Rookie of the Year, Midfielder of the Year and Best XI honors.u0026nbsp;
After months of recovery, she returned to the Spirit’s active roster in March 2025 and has since regained match fitness. In June, she rejoined the USWNT for summer friendlies as Hayes expanded the team’s talent pipeline, cementing Bethune’s status as a key figure in the next generation of U.S. midfielders.
Midfielder Hal Hershfelt u0026nbsp;was selected as an alternate for the 2024 Olympic team. She trained with the squad in Paris, but was not on matchday rosters. For the USWNT, she eventually earned her first cap in October 2024, entering as a sub vs Iceland, and two days later made her first start against Argentina, playing all 90 minutes in a 3-0 win.u0026nbsp;
Hershfelt was also called into Hayes’ January 2025 training camp as one of several emerging talents. For club, Hershfelt is in her second season with the Washington Spirit. She was selected fifth overall in the 2024 draft, and has become integral to the Spirit’s success.
Although Macario didn’t actually go to Paris for the Olympics, forced to withdraw due to ongoing knee issues, her recent return to play has been nothing short of exciting. Macario initially made the USWNT roster for the Olympics, but not long after had to make a difficult decision to pull out.
She made her comeback to the USWNT in February 2025 during the SheBelieves Cup. After being out of commission during a long rehab, she scored her first international goal in nearly three years when the USWNT defeated Colombia.u0026nbsp;
At the club level, Macario was instrumental for Chelsea FCu0026nbsp;in the FA Women’s Super League. She has started in the last four league matches, contributing two goals and two assists in just 432 minutes of play.
Crystal Dunn parted ways with NJ/NY Gotham FC in January 2025, just one season after joining on a multi‑year deal.u0026nbsp;Dunn left to NYC for Paris, as she signed a contract with Paris Saint‑Germain through 2027. Internationally, Dunn remains a veteran presence for the USWNT, having earned more than 155 caps and scoring 25 goals. She’s been in the mix for all of the USWNT’s recent friendlies, and remains one of the few veterans on the squad.
After a standout performance at the Olympics – she had three goals and an assist – Rodman missed most of the beginning of 2025 due to lingering back issues. For club, Rodman and the Washington Spirit carefully managed her workload, limiting her early-season minutes.
After a long break from USWNT competition after the Olympics, Hayes included Rodman for the April friendlies. Rodman came back soaring; scoring in just the fifth minute of her return. However, the back problems persisted. Rodman has been rehabbing and spending some time away from the Spirit to focus on her recovery.u0026nbsp;
She finally returned to training with the Spirit this week after receiving specialized treatment for the injury that she says u0026nbsp;caused her pain “all the time.”
“I’m just happy to be back and actually in team training and not coming back on the side from step one,” Rodman said.
Although Jaedyn Shaw was initially named to the roster for the Olympics, she had to miss the Games due to a quad injury sustained just prior to the tournament. She was included in the 2025 SheBelieves Cup and several friendlies since.u0026nbsp;
Shaw was traded from the San Diego Wave to the North Carolina Courage ahead of the 2025 NWSL season. The transfer included $300,000 in allocation money, $150,000 in intra-league transfer funds, and an international roster slot for both 2025 and 2026, with potential for additional allocation money based on conditions.
It’s been a slow start for Shaw with the Courage, however, and she has the second part of the season to find her stride.
Since her Olympic gold in Paris, Sophia Wilson – she was Sopha Smith in Paris – embarked on a joyful chapter, marrying NFL receiver Michael Wilson in late January 2025, and then announcing in March that the couple are expecting their first child.
Wilson, the USWNT and Portland Thorns’ trusty No. 9, hasn’t played since late 2024 due first to a nagging ankle injury, and more recently, her pregnancy.
After Paris 2024, Mallory Swanson stepped away from the field for personal reasons – later confirming that she’s pregnant and preparing to welcome her first child with husband Dansby Swanson.
Swanson is still with the Chicago Stars, although not actively playing. The key figure to “Triple Espresso” hasn’t played with the USWNT since the Olympics, and announced that she will miss the entire 2025 NWSL season.
Lynn Biyendolo is another gold medalist whou0026nbsp;has had quite the groundbreaking year, both professionally and personally.u0026nbsp;The forward was traded from Gotham FC to Seattle Reign, in a massive move that shook up the NWSL.u0026nbsp;
Although it took a little bit of time to get acquainted, she scored her first goal for Seattle in a 1‑0 win over كانساس سيتي الحالية in May, marking her 81st NWSL regular-season goal, the most in league history.u0026nbsp;Off of the field, she married long-time partner Marley Biyendolo in December 2024.
In June, she captained the U.S. for the first time in a friendly win over Ireland, opening the scoring with a volley in the 11th minute. It was also the occasion of the USWNT’s 600th all-time win. Win, win, Lynn.
