Bayern are preparing a new bid for Diaz after having their initial offer, believed to be around €67.5 million (£59m/$79m), rejected by the الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز champions, according to Fabrizio Romano. Diaz, 28, remains Bayern’s top target, with personal terms reportedly already agreed. Meanwhile, Bayern have also initiated contact with ليون for Belgian winger Malick Fofana as a potential alternative should negotiations with Liverpool break down.
Liverpool maintain that Diaz is not officially on the market, but the Colombian has informed the club of his desire to leave and seek a new challenge in the الدوري الألماني after a reported call with Vincent Kompany. Should Bayern fail to reach an agreement, their focus will shift towards Fofana, who impressed in 2024–25 with 11 goals and seven assists for Lyon.
Diaz contributed 17 goals and eight assists in all competitions for Liverpool in the 2024–25 season, his most productive campaign since joining from Porto. On the other hand, Fofana, 20, made his senior Belgium debut last season and has attracted interest from clubs across Europe, including Liverpool and Chelsea.
If unsuccessful in their bid to sign Diaz, the club will accelerate talks with Lyon for Fofana to avoid being left short-handed on the flanks. Bayern are also managing squad restructuring following high-profile departures and summer signings, with further incomings possible as the transfer window progresses.
