Reported by Fabrizio Romano on X, Al-Hilal remain in talks with Nunez’s representatives and the Uruguayan is high on their list of transfer targets for this summer. The transfer guru states Liverpool are open to a permanent sale and talks over a move for the 26-year-old will continue in the coming days.

Nunez has been heavily linked with an Anfield departure after largely failing to live up to his £85 million ($112m) price tag following his transfer in 2022. The former striker saw his struggles increase in 2024-25 as he fell out of favour under Arne Slot. With a massive deal for Alexander Isak still potentially in the works, the sale of Nunez could raise useful funds.

Nunez arrived for pre-season last month rocking a new buzzcut hairstyle and it has so far paid off, with the Uruguayan striker scoring four times in pre-season including a hat-trick in a behind-closed-doors encounter with City. This could suggest an upturn in goalscoring fortunes after he managed just seven in all competitions last term.

In addition to a lucrative Saudi switch, Nunez has been linked with Italian giants and Napoli and further offers could emerge prior to the end of the transfer window on September 1. It is likely the Uruguay international won’t know where he will play his football next season for a few more weeks. Meanwhile, Liverpool will continue to prepare for their opener against on August 15, with further developments surrounding Isak a story to keep a keen eye on.
