- Ten Hag sacked after two الدوري الألماني matches
- Leverkusen held to a 3-3 draw by 10-man Bremen
- Ex-Man Utd manager without a job after just one month
Following Leverkusen’s 3-3 draw against a 10-man فيردر بريمن last Saturday, the club hierarchy decided to part ways with their head coach Ten Hag, who was in charge of the German side in just two Bundesliga matches in the 2025-26 campaign.
Leverkusen released an official statement to confirm the manager’s departure, which read: “Bayer 04 Leverkusen has parted ways with head coach Erik ten Hag with immediate effect. Training will be taken over by the assistant coaching staff for the time being.”
Sky Sports’ فلوريان بليتينبيرج further reported that the Leverkusen management took the call on Monday morning and informed the manager, which delayed the club’s training session, following their disappointing Bundesliga outing during the weekend. Leverkusen’s start under Ten Hag was chaotic. They kicked off the new season with a 4-0 win over SG in the DFB Pokal first round, but suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Hoffenheim in their Bundesliga season opener. The draw against Bremen, who had a man less on the pitch for nearly half an hour, was the last straw for the management, who finally took the extreme step, this early into the season.
Leverkusen underwent a major squad overhaul in the summer window, losing four pillars of their recent title-winning side, as stars like Florian Wirtz, Granit Xhaka, Lukas Hradecky, and Jonathan Tah followed their manager Xabi Alonso out of the club.
The German side will have to finalise Ten Hag’s replacement during the international break so that the new boss can take charge of the team and sit on the dugout once the club return to action on September 12 against آينتراخت فرانكفورت.
