Roma are planning a double swoop for Brighton's Evan Ferguson and Matt O'Riley after a positive round of talks with the Irish striker.

Roma have been pursuing the signing of Ferguson after Brighton suggested they would be open to a summer transfer. According to Corriere dello Sport the Italian club now have the Irishman’s approval. Roma already have an agreement in place with the Seagulls and will look to finalise the deal in the coming days.

Ferguson rose to prominence after his exceptional performances under former head coach Roberto De Zerbi, scoring 16 goals and providing five assists in Brighton’s 2022-23 season. However, his progress stalled after he faced multiple injuries the following campaign and was loaned to , but he couldn’t shine for the Hammers. Brighton have now reportedly accepted a loan with an option-to-buy deal for the 20-year-old from Roma. The only variable that needs to be sorted is the eventual buying price for the striker, which the Seagulls want to set at €45 million (£39m/$52m).

Roma head coach Gian Piero Gasperini also wants to sign O’Riley from Brighton. The Danish midfielder is highly regarded by the club as an attacking midfielder and is seen as someone who can convert chances. Before they can bring in a second Brighton player, though, they first need to offload a few existing players. The three-time Italian league winners will look for a similar loan option for the Danish player.

The 2022 winners are also interested in bringing Rasmus Hojlund back to the Italian top-flight. The Danish striker had risen to prominence under Gasperini during their time together at . However, the move depends on Manchester , with whom they will have to discuss a transfer possibility.
