Jadon Sancho told his career is 'going to turn into a circus' as Man Utd outcast becomes 'stuck in endless loop' after Aston Villa move

Jadon Sancho has been warned that his career is “going to turn into a circus” if he struggles at Aston Villa this season. The winger joined Unai Emery’s side on a season-long loan from Manchester United on deadline day in an attempt to get his career back on track. Sancho had been told he was not part of United boss Ruben Amorim’s plans for the 2025-26 season, with the 25-year-old training away from the rest of the squad before completing his switch to Villa.

The move to Villa is the latest in an increasing number of temporary moves for Sancho, who spent the 2024-25 season on loan at . Sancho also returned to Bundesliga side – the club whom he left to join in 2021 – on loan for the second half of the 2023-24 campaign after being exiled by then-United manager Erik ten Hag.

And now former Villa striker Stan Collymore has urged Sancho to make the most of his time under Emery’s stewardship if he is to get back to the level which saw him emerge as one of the world’s brightest young talents at Dortmund.

In an interview with 10bet Casino, Collymore said: “I wasn’t a fan of Jadon Sancho being brought in [at Villa]. I think he’s just one of those players now that can’t get rid of, because somebody won’t come up and pony up a big fee or his wages to sign him permanently. If he doesn’t start producing, he’s just going to go out on a succession of loans, but I’m disappointed with how he’s been playing over the last few years. I remember him breaking on the scene at , and then he obviously went over to Dortmund and was firing with the likes of .

“He joined United for a massive fee. He joined a club that was in disarray, and it wasn’t the right time to go to Manchester United for any player let alone Sancho, to be honest. He’s been really disappointing since he arrived in the .Sancho’s got to get his head down and deliver because if he doesn’t his career is just going to turn into a circus, and he’ll be stuck in an endless loop of loan moves. It’s important that he has a good, long spell at Villa where he impresses.”

Sancho made his debut for Villa in their 4-2 penalty shootout defeat against fellow Premier League side في on Tuesday. Emery’s side drew 1-1 in normal time after Harvey Elliott’s opener was cancelled out by Aaron Hickey’s second-half strike.

Sancho is in line to make his first Premier League appearance of the season when Villa travel to on Sunday. Emery’s men are still searching for their first league win in 2025-26 after recording two draws and two defeats in their opening four games.
