According to Fichajes are “working on the numbers” for a deal for Marseille forward Greenwood. The 23-year-old signed a five-year deal with the side last year but has been linked with a summer exit after a successful season where he scored 22 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions. It’s believed his previous experience in makes Greenwood an “attractive candidate” for Atletico Madrid, having spent a season on loan with back in 2023-24.

Greenwood helped fire Marseille back into the and is thought to have played a major role in the club picking up international Angel Gomes on a free transfer from . He could also be joined by former star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has been linked with a return to the Stade Velodrome.

Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, have been busy in the summer transfer window. Matteo Ruggeri, Alex Baena, Johnny Cardoso and Thiago Almada have all been picked up this month, while Clement Lenglet and Juan Musso arrived permanently in June following loan deals. Veterans Cesar Azpilicueta and Axel Witsel left at the end of their contracts, while Rodrigo Riquelme and Angel Correa have also departed.

Marseille are hoping to challenge for the Ligue 1 title in the upcoming 2025-26 season and will discover their opponents for the Champions League in late August.
