مدير عام كرة القدم
- Pogba did not criticise Amorim for the decision
- كأس العالم winner recently joined AS موناكو
- Ex-متحد team-mates played together in 187 games
Pogba was appearing on Speed’s stream, where the pair talked about recent transfer dealings on a yacht moored in Monte Carlo Harbour. The internet star asked the World Cup winner for his thoughts on Rashford’s loan deal. Pogba said that while United are losing a top player, he does not blame Ruben Amorim from moving on from players he “doesn’t believe in”. Rashford and Amorim’s relationship broke down soon after the Portuguese’s appointment, with the forward sent to Aston Villa on loan in January 2025.
This summer represents a turning point in the career of Pogba’s former team-mate. Rashford’s loan deal, with a €30m option-to-buy for Barcelona, represents a chance for the 26-year-old to move on from the club he has represented since he was a boy after a turbulent year. Meanwhile, Pogba has just joined Monaco, after serving his 18-month ban for violating anti-doping laws. He last played a competitive fixture in September 2023 while at Juventus.
Speed asked Pogba for his opinion on the Rashford to Barca deal. The midfielder replied: “That’s crazy, but I’m happy for him because they [United] took his number. مانشستر يونايتد are losing a great player. Unlucky for them.
“It’s great for Barcelona to be honest. I’m not even talking about United, because they’ve bought a few new players and the new manager wants to do his thing I guess. It’s not really his [Amorim’s] fault. If he doesn’t believe in someone. He needs to win. If he doesn’t win they’re going to sack him.”
Pogba and Rashford were team-mates at United for six seasons, after the French midfielder rejoined the club for a then-world-record fee of £89m in 2016. The pair played together in 187 games for the Red Devils, winning a Europa League and League Cup.
Rashford is set to be unveiled as a Barcelona player on Tuesday, July 22 pending a successful medical. Pogba will be building towards to August 16, when Monaco’s الدوري الفرنسي 1 season starts with a home game against Le Havre.
