The club have already played against , and in pre-season, but Mbeumo has not been ready to feature. However, with the Red Devils still to play Everton and this pre-season, Mbeumo will have a chance to settle into the squad and get some game-time before the season stats.

Speaking ahead of the game against Everton, Amorim said: “He’s going to play. I’m really excited to see him playing and what he can give to our team. But I was also really excited to see the team playing the last game.

“You maybe looked at the starting line-up and said ‘nothing to see today’ but I was so excited because I know we can do better. So I’m always excited, especially at this moment.”

Even after the signings of Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, United are still in the hunt for more additions. They have been linked with a move for striker Benjamin Sesko, but reports on Saturday suggested that the Slovenian could be about to join Newcastle instead. The Red Devils are also struggling to strengthen between the sticks, with moves for a replacement for Andre Onana proving unsuccessful as of yet.

“But we are always looking to improve the team and we have some characteristics that we would like to have. But again, it depends on the market. It depends on the sales. We’ll see. But I’m really happy.

“I think even when you talk about Andre [Onana], you can see the other goalkeepers. Even Tom [Heaton] is linear, he’s a different goalkeeper. Altay [Bayindir] did really well and Andre is going to be better like the other guys who are getting better this year.”

After their pre-season campaign finishes against Fiorentina, the Red Devils kick off their season against at Old Trafford on August 17. The Gunners beat United to the signing of Viktor Gyokeres and have not lost to the Red Devils in the league since 2022.
