- Dane left Old Trafford as a free agent
- Red Dragons made a couple of approaches
- Missed out to German side فولفسبورغ
The experienced الدنمارك international, who severed ties with الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز giants at Old Trafford when his contract ended, was available as a free agent. He was approached by the Red Dragons after finding himself without a club.
No deal was done at that point, with Eriksen of the رأي that he could still play top-flight football somewhere. He remained available, though, until September 10 – when a new challenge was finally taken on with الدوري الألماني side Wolfsburg.
ريكسهام had asked questions of Eriksen’s representatives again by that point, with Hollywood co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney refusing to give up an ambitious bid to bring the 33-year-old Dane on board.
Wrexham Insider claim that: “Wrexham did have further conversations with his people after the window closed – mainly checking on him and his stance over dropping into بطولة. They still had a little hope he would be open to the idea but he obviously got his wish of top-flight football with Wolfsburg.”
Wrexham, who have also been linked with ex-Spurs and إنجلترا star Dele Alli, left one space open in their 25-man Championship squad. That is expected to be filled by Ollie Rathbone after seeing the all-action midfielder make positive progress in his recovery from a pre-season ankle injury.
