- Arsenal agree deal with Valencia for Cristhian Mosquera
- Defender skipped Asia tour, despite London media appearance
- Transfer delay sparks speculation over hidden medical concerns
Arsenal and Valencia agreed terms last week for the transfer of Mosquera in a deal worth up to €20 million (£17m/$23m). The Spanish defender travelled to London early on Tuesday and even recorded content with the club’s media team, which was accidentally revealed during Noni Madueke’s presentation. However, the official announcement remains pending, and he was not included in Arsenal’s pre-season Asia tour squad.
Reports initially suggested a medical issue had caused complications in the transfer. However, as per Tribuna Deportiva Valencia, some sources close to the club insist that Mosquera completed his medical successfully. The actual reason for the delay remains undisclosed, with neither side confirming the cause of the hold-up.
Despite the uncertainty, Arsenal remain confident the move for Mosquera will be completed. The Spaniard is viewed as a key signing for the future, and the club is taking a patient approach. With William Saliba and Gabriel established, the 21-year-old could be eased into Mikel Arteta’s plans over the course of the next couple of seasons.
The transfer is still expected to be finalised in the coming days as per the report. However, Arsenal are likely to wait until after the Asia tour to unveil Mosquera officially.
