Sources tell BALLGM US that Turner’s move to Lyon from is nearing completion, and that upon signing for the Ligue 1 giants, he will subsequently be loaned to the New England Revolution on a one-year deal. His roster designation remains to be determined.

In June, it was reported that Lyon and Forest agreed on a fee for the transfer of Turner ahead of the Gold Cup with the USMNT. However, amid financial woes, Lyon were relegated to Ligue 2 – and then, after a successful appeal, they were reinstated to the French top division and their spot in European football next season was guaranteed.

American owner John Textor stepped down from his leadership role at the club, and Michele Kang took over the day-to-day operations of it.

As a result and due to financial implications of Turner potentially being a high-priced backup, Lyon made an attempt to back out of the deal with Forest, hiring legal personnel, but Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis reportedly turned down any attempt to pull out of the deal.
