England women were crowned European champions for the second consecutive time as they beat World Cup winners Spain 3-1 on penalties on Sunday. This was Sarina Wiegman's third Euros triumph in a row as she had won it with the Lionesses in 2022 and the Netherlands in 2018. Plenty of England stars took to social media to celebrate after the remarkable success in Switzerland.

Russo, who scored the all-important equaliser in the second half, caught up with her father at the team’s celebration and gave a warm hug.

Manchester star Ella Toone celebrated the victory in the dressing room with team-mate Beth Mead. Both players lost a parent recently and dedicated the victory to them, as Toone wrote: “We did it for our angels in the sky. Forever with us u0026amp; forever proud.”

Toone also danced her heart out while celebrating England’s triumph.

forward Lauren James linked up with her brother and fellow Blues star Reece in the gallery after England’s win. She also shared an image of herself with the Euro title and wrote: “European Champions. WOOOOW!!!”

Chloe Kelly used a wonderful catchphrase while celebrating the win as she said: “The first time was so , we had to do it twice.”

Defender Lucy Bronze, who revealed she had played the entire tournament with a broken leg, echoed Kelly’s statement in her own Instagram post.

England captain Leah Williamson posted on Instagram: “Back to back. European Champions, again.”

The Lionesses’ penalty shootout hero Hannah Hampton wrote on Instagram: “back to back.”

Despite going through extreme mental pressure of combating racial abuse throughout the competition, Carter was out on the pitch and had a fabulous outing. After the match, the player told ITV: “I was super scared to play today, which is the first time in my life. Then when I woke up this morning and saw my team and the support that I had from my team-mates, my family and my manager, I knew I had to come out today and give it my all.”
