- England to face Italy in Euro 2025 semi-final
- Captain Williamson back in training after injury
- Winners will face Spain or Germany in final
Sarina Wiegman’s side are currently preparing for a showdown with Italy at Euro 2025. The Lionesses booked their place in the semi-final after beating Sweden on penalties in a game that saw Williamson forced off in extra-time with an ankle problem. Wiegman admitted to concerns about her injury after the win, telling reporters: “She rolled her ankle.u0026nbsp;I don’t know what it is right now. She couldn’t stay on the pitch, so we had to take her off.”
Williamson has now returned to training in what will be a big boost to the Lionesses as they bid to make it to the final against either Spain or Germany. The Lionesses captain has started all of England’s games at the tournament and is a key player for Wiegman’s side. Her experience and leadership will therefore be important to the team in such an important match-up.

Williamson admitted after the win over Sweden that she wasn’t sure how serious her ankle problem was: “It wasn’t about me (tonight) and a game like that requires you to be at 100 per cent. It wasn’t the time to stay on the pitch, but I don’t know.”
Wiegman is due to speak to the media on Monday and may provide a fitness update on Williamson at that point. England take on Italy on Tuesday in Geneva, with the final scheduled to be played on July 27 in Basel.
