City paid Palmeiras a fee in the region of £29.6 million ($36m) to land Reis, reflecting the enormous promise he showed in البرازيل. Spanish side Girona, which comes under the umbrella of the City Football Group, have also put in a request for Reis. They are also keen on midfielder Claudio Echeverri as part of a potential double-loan arrangement.
City stress that any move will only proceed if it aligns with the club’s internal development plans and guarantees the youngster valuable on-field experience. The priority is to ensure that wherever Reis goes, he will be exposed to a high level of competition and a tactical system that complements Guardiola’s philosophy.
