- Isak aiming to force through move
- Liverpool embarking on summer spending spree
- Newcastle stunned by decision
Per TBR Football Isak is ‘absent without leave’ as he bids to force through a move to Liverpool. The Reds are said to be willing to pay more than £120 million ($160m) to sign the Sweden international and, as a result, he has informed Newcastle that he is not currently willing to train with his team-mates and is instead working on his fitness at home.
Isak is said to have demanded over £300,000-per-week to sign a new deal at Newcastle and has now asked to leave St James’ Park. Liverpool have already signed Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike to refresh their front line and are also now in pole position to buy the 25-year-old.
Newcastle are scouring the market for replacements and have reportedly shortlisted Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig; they had been interested in signing Ekitike but he is instead a Liverpool player, perhaps adding to the Magpies’ frustrations.
Newcastle play a K-League XI in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday. Isak will not be involved.
