- Man Utd eye Barcelona star
- Prepared to pay €70m for him
- Flick rules out transfer exit
Mundo Deportivo claims that after manager Flick read reports of Fermin Lopez potentially leaving Barcelona this summer, the German asked the attacking midfielder to stay put. The Spain international is said to have then told the ex-Bayern Munich boss that he wanted to stay with the Blaugrana, despite €70m (£61m) links to متحد.
This comes weeks after reports emerged that Flick wanted to reduce the number of midfield options he has at his disposal; a group that includes Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Dani Olmo, Fermin, Marc Casado, and Marc Bernal. The club are still not in the best financial position, so a sale or two could help. But it seems Fermin is not going anywhere, despite his lack of game time.
The 22-year-old has scored 19 goals and added 11 assists in 88 games for Barcelona since making his debut in the 2023-24 season. But Fermin has started on just 38 occasions for the Blaugrana, with Pedri, Olmo, and De Jong often preferred to him.
Barca academy graduate Fermin, who can play as an attacking midfielder, more centrally, and on the left wing, still has four years left on his contract, and it seems he won’t be leaving Flick’s side any time soon.
