The Red Devils continue to scour the market when it comes to shot-stopping options. They have invested heavily in Cameroon international Andre Onana, but he has made a number of costly errors across two seasons in and is currently nursing an injury.

Lammens could be easier to acquire, but he would represent more of a gamble. are prepared to part with the 23-year-old, who is said to come with a price tag of between €15 million and €20m (£17m/$23m).

nLammens believes he is ready for a big move, telling Gazet van Antwerpen: “ are one of the best clubs, yes. But you never know. It could also be a different club, or who knows, I might stay here. “Ideally, that means playing immediately, but it’s also possible I’ll have to take a step in between. As long as there’s a plan, it doesn’t matter whether I’m ready for the next step or not. Everyone has their own career, their own path. Even if I don’t take the right step right away, I’ll get there.”n

United have been told what they could be getting in Lammens, with Antwerp boss Stef Wils saying: “He has everything a modern goalkeeper needs, and as a young lad, he still has room to grow in a major league. He exudes calm and inspires confidence in his defenders, a plus on high balls.”

The Red Devils are currently taking in a pre-season tour of the United States. Turkish keeper Altay Bayindir played the full 90 minutes in their 2-1 friendly win over , with Ruben Amorim’s side set to be back in action on Wednesday when taking on .
