- Antonio faced Hazard and Rashford
- Snubs both in favour of forgotten man
- Says this player ‘destroyed him’
Speaking on Adebayo Akinfenwa’s ‘Beast Mode On’ podcast, Antonio – who is still recovering from a horror car crash in December 2024 – surprisingly named ex-Swansea winger Mo Barrow as his toughest-ever opponent. That is despite the fact he has marked the likes of Eden Hazard and Marcus Rashford, having previously played as a defender.
“I’ve marked [Anthony] Martial, Hazard, Rashford. All these people,” he said. “The one who ripped me the most. He destroyed me. Mo Barrow. They won 3-0, all from him, through my legs, assist. I stood there like, ‘oh sh*t’.”
Barrow is still playing, currently plying his trade in South Korea. Antonio, meanwhile, may be on the lookout for a new club once he has recovered from the injuries he suffered in the car crash. He left West Ham at the end of his contract in June but the club left the door open to a return.
