Roccuzzo was in attendance as Como played in a pre-season friendly this weekend, sparking playful speculation that the Miami star could join his friend and former team-mate Cesc Fabregas at the outfit. When quizzed on this, the former man certainly warmed to the idea of a Messi transfer.

He told reporters: “Never say never, he [Messi] was at my house on vacation. He went on a trip to see friends, we are friends, even his wives and children. As Ludi said after the match, we can’t say Messi has never played for Como, given his children. But he’s in America.”

Miami have insisted they are very confident that Messi will extend his contract with the outfit, with his contract expiring at the end of 2025. But until the 38-year-old puts pen to paper on a new deal, rumours will continue to circle that the 2022 winner will want one last move before he ends his remarkable career.

While Como fans can dream about Messi joining them one day, the international will be focusing on Miami’s MLS clash with table-topping Cincinnati this weekend as they seek to cut the gap to the Eastern Conference leaders.
