Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham made a surprise visit to League One side Wycombe Wanderers to reunite with his former youth coach Mike Dodds.

Bellingham came up through Birmingham City’s academy before moving to in 2020. But before getting his big break in and joining Real Madrid in 2023, he was coached by Dodds in the Blues’ youth setup. And on Monday, the international paid him a visit at ‘s stadium, where the 39-year-old is now head coach.

In an Instagram story, Bellingham wrote: “Doddsy,” accompanied by a blue heart and the ‘top’ emoji. Wycombe also thanked the 22-year-old, who is currently sporting a cast after undergoing surgery on a dislocated shoulder, for his support.

Thanks to Dodds’ help, Bellingham is now, arguably, one of the best midfielders in the world. He has starred for Borussia Dortmund, Madrid, and England, and much of that may be down to the coaching he received at Birmingham. Now, Dodds is getting his first managerial role after working at City and as a coach at – and Bellingham appears to be all for it.

Dodds is just weeks away from pitting himself against other managers as Wycombe prepare for the new season, while Bellingham will continue to step up his rehab as he targets a return to action soon for Madrid.
