Per Mundo Deportivo, Newcastle are considering a summer move to sign midfielder Gallagher, who is valued at £36m by the Rojiblancos. The ex- midfielder only moved to Madrid last summer, and has made 50 appearances for the club.

Per the report, Gallagher is popular at the club and they would like him to stay, but he made just 19 La Liga starts last season, and he is said to be minded to potentially move ahead of the 2026 as he bids to force his way into Thomas Tuchel’s plans. He has won 22 caps for England but was not in Tuchel’s first squad.

Gallagher, of course, has plenty of experience in the , having made 136 appearances in the competition for Chelsea, , and West Brom.

Newcastle have actually scheduled a pre-season friendly against Atletico in August, and have a good working history with the Spanish club having done business before involving Kieran Trippier, Javier Manquillo, and Jesus Gamez.
