- Release clause triggered in Reds contract
- Forest threatened legal action against Spurs
- Fresh terms agreed with England international
Spurs thought they had a deal in place for the England international playmaker when triggering a secret release clause. Forest refused to bow to pressure, as they threatened legal action against الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز rivals, and have been able to thrash out fresh terms.
Gibbs-White has signed a record-breaking contract at the City Ground, becoming the highest-earning player in Forest’s history, with a three-year agreement taking him through to the summer of 2028.
After three years on Trentside, which have seen him become an England international, Gibbs-White has stated that he remains fully committed to the Forest cause – with questions of his future being ignored.
The 25-year-old, who has figured for Forest in pre-season, told the Reds’ official website: “I’ve felt at home at Forest from the moment I arrived. The support from the fans, my team-mates, and everyone around the club has been unbelievable. I believe in what we’re building here – and with the backing of Mr Marinakis and the enormous ambition he has, I want to be part of making something special. I’m excited for what’s to come.”
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis said: “Morgan is a special player – not just in terms of talent, but character and mentality. He represents everything we want this football club to be: he is a winner, talented, ambitious, fearless, and proud.
“There was significant interest from various clubs, but we were determined to build our future with Morgan at the heart of it. I promised our fans we would not only compete, but grow stronger and stronger every season. Today is another big step in that journey.”
مانشستر سيتي have also been credited with interest in Gibbs-White, but he is now set to spend at least one more season with Forest as sights are set on earning a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 كأس العالم.
